You will get one more message from the company to confirm again.

Follow these steps untill you get a message that.
" Kindly note there are no services active on your Airtel number." 
*After this send one more message to activate DND like this 
'START<space>0 to 1909' 
You will get a message to confirm 
Reply 'YES'
You can port from Airtel to other service provider by sending a message 
'PORT<space>Mobile Number' to 1900. You will get a code. Simply submit your 
documents to other company & enjoy the new services.
